RESEARCHER
I study psychedelic-assisted therapy with a focus on the psychological processes of change. I also research shame and the social functions of emotions and processes of change linked to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I also host the Research Matters Podcast, a show where I interview great researchers about how they do their thing.

ENTREPRENEUR
I enjoy starting new organizations and scaling them up to have a larger impact. I am particularly interested in social enterprise as a way to maximize social good. My largest effort has been to co-found the Portland Psychotherapy Clinic, Research, & Training Center, a research and training clinic run as a social enterprise where profits fund scientific research. More recently I helped start the Portland Institute for Psychedelic Science and Northwest Psychedelic Services.

TRAINER / SPEAKER / AUTHOR
I’ve provided training to clinicians all over the world in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and psychedelic-assisted therapy. I also train therapists on how to work with highly self-critical and shame prone clients. I’ve also written books related to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
